Who is our programme open to?<\/h3>\n

Our language courses are open to anyone who is interested\u2014regardless of whether you are a student, work at a university, or not.<\/p>\n

If you are a student, alumnus of TU Berlin, or employee of a Berlin university or college,<\/em> you can receive a discount when registering. To do so, we require appropriate proof, such as a student ID card, certificate of enrollment, employee ID card, or alumni certificate.<\/p>\n

All others pay the regular course price.<\/p>\n

All our other language learning opportunities<\/a> (private lessons, language tandems) as well as our cultural programme<\/a> (Kulturcaf\u00e9) are available to anyone interested.<\/p>\n

Special offer for German A1.1 courses<\/h3>\n

If you attend one of our A1.1 German courses, we will give you 10 lesson units for free. This means, for example, that if you book an A1.1 course with 60 lesson units, you only pay for 50 lesson units. The special offer is valid for students and non-students.<\/p>\n

Example:
A 60-hour German A1.1 course costs 114,- (instead of 132,-) for students and 158,- (instead of 182,-) for non-students.<\/p>\n

When does registration take place and how can I pay?<\/h3>\n

We offer language courses twice a semester: Semester-long courses during the winter and summer semesters and (semi-)intensive courses during the winter and summer semester breaks. About 2-3 weeks before a course block starts, there is a registration period, during which you can enroll.<\/p>\n

To register for a course, you must pay the course fee via bank transfer. We will provide you with the account information when you register. Unfortunately, no other payment methods are possible at the moment.<\/p>\n

Important: The registration is only complete when your payment has arrived on our TU bank account. A reservation for a spot in a language course without payment isn't possible!<\/p>\n

Can I withdraw from a course I've booked?<\/h3>\n

If you have already registered and paid for a course, but then decide not to participate, you have the possibility to withdraw from the course.<\/p>\n

However, a withdrawal is only<\/strong> possible within the registration period. This means that you have to inform us of your wish to withdraw in writing (via e-mail or cancellation button in your user account) by the last day of the registration period at the latest. We will then refund you the course fee you paid minus an administrative fee of 15,- Euro.<\/p>\n

Is the course material included in the course fee?<\/h3>\n

Each SKB teacher decides individually which material they will use in their course. If a certain book or material is needed in the course, it could be that you will have to buy this for the course. If and which material is requires for a course, is always mentioned in the course description. So you will already know which extra costs might arise before registering.<\/p>\n

How big are the class groups?<\/h3>\n

Our courses have between a minimum of 4-5 and a maximum of 14 participants.<\/p>\n

What happens if not enough people enroll for a course?<\/h3>\n

Our courses have a minimum number of participants, usually four or five people. To teach a course with less participants would result in an unsustainable financial loss. This means that if fewer people than the minimum register for a course, unfortunately the course can't take place.<\/p>\n

If this is the case, the teacher then tries to find alternatives, for example by combining two similar course levels in one course. Unfortunately, this is not always possible. If a course cannot take place, we will inform you in good time and of course refund your complete course fee.<\/p>\n

Also if a teacher gets ill and a course does not take place or only takes place partially, we will refund all the cancelled lesson units.<\/p>\n

Are participants in our language courses covered by accident insurance?<\/h3>\n

Normally, participants in our language courses are not insured by TU Berlin.<\/p>\n

Employees of other Berlin universities may be insured through their university's accident insurance provider if our language courses are part of their employment relationship. Furthermore, learners or students who take our language courses as part of training and further education in a company insured with Unfallkasse Berlin may be insured through the company in question. This should be checked with the relevant employer.<\/p>\n
