Reflections on Berlin in Videogames &#038; Digital Urbanism"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>(ENG, main language!)<\/p>\n<p>Whether dashing past a stranded (and possibly belated) S-Bahn train in <em>Mario Kart <\/em>or exploring an anarchic city-state in <em>Shadowrun: Dragonfly<\/em>, Berlin has featured in several videogame titles in recent years. Though not as popular a setting as its North American or Japanese counterparts, the German capital has enough history and interesting locales to warrant many possible re-imaginings in an interactive videogame setting. But what does it mean to construct a videogame city, especially one that actually exists in the real world and comes with its storied history? In this talk, we\u2019ll get to find out more about videogame urbanism and about the virtual representations of Berlin in particular.<\/p>\n<p>(DE)<\/p>\n<p>Ob man in <em>Mario Kart<\/em> an einer gestrandeten (und m\u00f6glicherweise versp\u00e4teten) S-Bahn vorbeirennt oder in <em>Shadowrun: Dragonfly<\/em> einen anarchischen Stadtstaat erkundet \u2014 Berlin war in den letzten Jahren in mehreren Videospieltiteln vertreten. Obwohl die deutsche Hauptstadt als Schauplatz nicht so beliebt ist wie ihre nordamerikanischen oder japanischen Pendants, hat sie doch genug Geschichte und interessante Schaupl\u00e4tze, um viele m\u00f6gliche Neuinterpretationen in einer interaktiven Videospielumgebung zu erm\u00f6glichen. Aber was bedeutet es, eine Videospielstadt zu konstruieren, insbesondere eine, die tats\u00e4chlich in der realen Welt existiert und ihre Geschichte mitbringt?
