Welcome to our cooking evenings! We want to learn German and cook something delicious from our cultures. Do you miss company? Do you have no one to practise your German with? Then you should definitely come to our monthly meetings! We have a few recipes we would like to share with you, but we are also happy to hear your variations. Please don't worry about your German level – we are not here to judge! But please, if you are fluent in German, come along too. Let's enjoy cosy evenings together with relaxed conversations and hopefully tasty food!
This semester, we are kicking off our cooking evenings with two seasonal recipes. What could they be? Christmas, of course! Do you miss your grandmother? Don't worry, we are here to bake Christmas cookies together!
This time, our journey takes us to Colombia and Mexico! We'll be cooking all kinds of things with corn: arepas, pan de bono, and corn tortillas. We're so excited for this trip, and we hope you are too!
Tsiknopempti (= Smoked Thursday) is a day when we barbecue and prepare for Lent. But since we are in Berlin and this can sometimes be difficult to do, we try to make it as close to the Greek experience as possible. Our cooking evening will turn into a masked party (we're in Berlin, so don't be embarrassed to walk around in a costume!). And because we want to cook something, of course, we'll learn how to make tzatziki, which is a must at any celebration like this.
Then our journey continues – to the Balkans, Turkey, the Arab countries or the eastern Mediterranean. We go beyond national borders! We cook dolma, sarma, dolmadakia, yaprak... What do you call it? It doesn't matter, we cook together!
Come along, we'll cook together in the communal kitchen at Studio Nagelneu in the Prinzessinnengärten.
